Patriotic Combo Pots

As July 4th approaches, many of us will have friends and family over to celebrate the holiday. If you have some early spring pots that are in need some sprucing up, here is your opportunity. Try putting these plants together for a dramatic pop of patriotic color that will endure the summer heat.

I have always been in touch with the weather. I guess I can trace it back to my parents. My dad grew up on a farm - you had to know what was going on, crops depended on it.

Gardening Tip: Succulents

Summer is in full swing and the oppressive heat and humidity here in South Louisiana is taking its toll on our gardens. While flowers are struggling there is one group of plants that thrive in this environment: Succulents. Now is the perfect time to plant a succulentgarden.

I was not born in this state. Which is a funny thing with a last name like Quebedeaux. My parents are from here and lived the majority of their lives here, so I am "from" here. After my family had a brief stint living away (approx. 15 years), we came back home in the mid-80's.

Shade is a lovely place to be during the hot Louisiana summers. Funny thing is, gardeners often struggle the most with these areas in their landscapes. With the lack of sun, comes the lack of blooms. Without blooms or flowers to give you color, one must become more creative with their choices.
