As the summer heat takes a toll on some of our plants, we have been able to tuck in a small shade jungle underneath our steps. Also, the Gulf fritillary, monarch, and giant swallowtail butterflies are still enjoying the buddleia (butterfly bush).

My 50-year-old garden is a true hummingbird haven and a nature retreat, shaded by large Southern live oaks. Flagstone paths wind through wrought-iron seating areas, a small pond with a waterfall, an urn fountain, and a few fun wildlife statues that always make me smile. It’s impressive to see how much a garden can grow and change over the course of half a century of steady care and love.

I love hunting for new garden treasures and hosting gatherings among the flowers. I feed all the animals that wander in and try to keep this space welcoming to every bit of wildlife that finds it. Louisiana nurseries have guided me through the years in choosing healthy plants, and after finishing the Master Gardener class this fall, I appreciate their knowledge even more.

We have a neighborhood nursery for which we love. They have a great variety of plants, a beautiful garden, and children's activities.

I really love adding gardening from house plants, vegetables, and flower gardens. The staff is always helpful, and I really enjoy shopping at Louisiana Nursery for all my garden plants.
