Ladies Nite Out: A Cherished Tradition at Louisiana Nursery
For over a decade, Louisiana Nursery: Home & Garden Showplace has been the proud host of a unique event known as Ladies Nite Out. This annual affair, spanning three nights at each of the Nursery’s locations, has grown to become a staple in our community’s calendar. The essence of this event is not merely a ‘night out’ for the ladies, but a celebration of local craftsmanship, entrepreneurial spirit, and the gardening community!
As you walk into one of the Louisiana Nursery locations, you’ll immediately be greeted by the lively sounds of a local musician playing familiar tunes. You can visit our catering staff on the way in for freshly prepared food and drinks or go right into the main event! You’ll see enthusiastic attendees move from one booth to another, exploring an array of hand-crafted products and services. From intricately designed jewelry to the warm glow of handmade candles, the sheer variety is astounding.
Inside the stores, Louisiana Nursery uses this event to kick-off the Holiday season with a beautiful ‘Christmas Wonderland’ display. Staff have spent the better part of two months decorating distinctly themed artificial trees, incorporating all the newest pieces from crock-pot ornaments to Farasilk ribbons. Whether you’re shopping for the perfect gift or getting a jump on the newest Christmas trends, Ladies Nite Out is where you’ll want to be!
Ken Gilbert, the General Manager of Louisiana Nursery, fondly recalled the event’s triumphant return last year: “After a two-year absence due to Covid, last year’s Ladies Nite Out was the biggest and best we’ve ever had. It was exciting for me to see so many new and returning customers enjoying the evening, full of fun and excitement. This year’s event will be even better with more vendors than ever before.”
While attendees are busy browsing through products like artisanal soaps, unique sculptures, and delicious foods, they’ll also see a variety of services. Whether you’re looking to get a fresh haircut, a manicure, or even seeking advice from organizational experts, Ladies Nite Out has something for everyone.
Jamie Dupre, event organizer and corporate manager, shared her perspective: “Ladies Nite Out is unquestionably our largest event of the year! I am so happy to work with entrepreneurial people from all walks of life and to feature their beautiful, handcrafted products and services. This is something I bring the whole family to, and we hope to see all our wonderful gardeners and customers do the same!”
However, what truly sets Ladies Nite Out apart is its community of vendors, many of whom have been a part of this journey since the beginning. One such member of our vendor family is Ashley Mohr of Delia V Soaps. For those unfamiliar with Ashley, her story with Ladies Nite Out is both inspiring and heartwarming.
“I first came across the Ladies Nite Out event when shopping at my Louisiana Nursery location in Prairieville. I was intrigued by a flyer about the event and asked if I could participate as a vendor. That very year, my husband and I had ventured into making soaps. The passion for creating led to an oversupply, and I thought, why not share these with others? Those initial three Louisiana Nursery events were my very first experience selling our soaps… The staff has been consistently supportive, making us feel right at home. Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of meeting long-term customers at the event. It’s heartening to see the community come together, supporting local businesses and enjoying a memorable evening.”
Ashley continued, “…I look forward to this event every fall. It allows me to reminisce on where it all started with my business! I’m so grateful for those first 3 events that gave me some experience on how to set up and display my products!”
