Turning a New Leaf

Time this year seems to have moved at a snail’s pace. Even though the idea that we have less than half a month of 2020 left makes me smile, I cannot say this year has been a complete waste. This year I was able to pull through a difficult semester of schooling, as have many of your children or family members. I deeply appreciate the effort of all teachers around the country who made this year just a bit easier to digest. I, like many of you, tried to learn a few new things; some of which only lasted a week and some of which I am still doing today. I will try my best to continue my good habits regardless of a global pandemic!

Based on google searches, social media posts, and seeing so many new faces at the Nursery, quite a lot of people decided that gardening would be their new skill. I only very recently decided to do the same when I began working at Louisiana Nursery. I could kill a cucumber plant in the middle of spring, but this year that did not matter. I knew I would struggle, but I was sure I had the time to keep at it. One of my ideas to address both the influx of new gardeners and legacy gardeners with thumbs as green as our trees was to start making educational content on our YouTube channel. You would be surprised at just how many college aged people decided to take a trip to a plant nursery this year! I think it is a great thing for a new generation of active growers to participate and care about gardening as much as anyone reading these articles. If you or a loved one you know would be interested in beginner style content about gardening, do not hesitate to send them over to our official YouTube channel (LouisianaNursery).

Do-It-Yourself articles on gardening and projects for around the house are a great way to stay active whenever there’s nothing else to do, so I can at the very least hope these interests are retained long past this difficult year is over. As such, Louisiana Nursery will be making a push to engage the readers of these articles as well as anyone with a Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or YouTube account. We hope posting new plants and pottery, as well as how to guides for those new to gardening or looking for tips will help keep the gardening lifestyle at the forefront of routines. All the following accounts will be listed below!

Lastly, I hope you are all doing fantastic this Christmas Holiday season. I am certain your trees are looking beautiful, and your Christmas lights stunning. If you would like to share some of that Holiday spirit with the Louisiana Nursery community, please do not hesitate to send pictures of your trees, house lights, mangers, etc. We would love to showcase the amazing talent that supports our local nursery every day.

Have a blessed day
